Preparing skin for winter

Winter is coming: how to prepare your skin for cooler months

Think about how your skin feels in summer. Is it glowing, dewy and sun-kissed? Now think about winter. Often our skin can feel tight and dehydrated when exposed to the dry, cold conditions in cooler months. Ensuring your skin is properly prepared for winter is just as important as applying sunscreen when you’re outside on a sunny day.

The change in temperature and humidity during autumn and summer will cause your skin to change too, meaning your skincare routine needs to adapt. Luckily there are a few simple tweaks we can make to our skincare routine during these seasons to help keep our skin feeling youthful and fresh!

We picked our favourite winter must-have ingredients that your skin will be craving in the cold.

Retinol & Vitamin C

After those warm summer months, your skin needs a boost of collagen to fight off any sunspots and pigmentation that may appear. The Foundation: Flawless Retinol & Vitamin C Lotion is jam-packed with the good oils your skin craves in cooler months, like avocado oil which provides essential hydration to your skin in cold, dry winter conditions, buriti oil which uses vitamins C, A and E to lock in moisture and jojoba oil that is naturally rich in fatty acids to keep your skin feeling bright and fresh, even on the laziest of days.

Retinol is also well known for its impressive results in the fight against ageing. Combine this winning combo with the vitamin C and hyaluronic acid to ensure your skins keeps that moisture locked in all day long! We recommend applying The Foundation in evening, starting off twice a week and working your way up to every second evening. Cleanse, Tone, Serum, Moisturise, Retinol followed by oils. You can choose to moisturise before or after retinol, using moisturiser before retinol minimises any dry side effects you may experience from your retinol assisting to shed your dead skin cells. If you’ve never used retinol before, we always recommend testing a small pea-sized amount on your face and neck first.

Jojoba Oil & Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid has strong moisture-locking properties with the ability to penetrate deep into your skin and hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water, so it’s safe to say it’s essential when your skin is feeling dry. Incorporate hyaluronic acid into your winter routine with Luna Vitality: Restoring Moisture Cream. This powerhouse of buttery goodness keeps your face smooth and plump. An award-winning combination of moisture-locking ingredients such as jojoba oil, camellia oil, sea buckthorn and hyaluronic acid help to combat the irritated, dry skin that often comes during winter. The thick and creamy texture of this cream makes it the perfect addition to your evening routine.

Simply apply a small amount to cleansed and toned skin before applying facial oil. We recommend following with Yester Youth: Regenerating Facial Oil for the perfect bedtime repair routine.

Rosehip Oil

Applying oil to your face at the end of your skincare routine every night is the best way to lock in everything you’ve applied and help your products to work their way into your skin. Plus, the added benefit is that it’s also really hydrating in its own right and gives your skin that soft-to-touch feeling we all love so much.

Yester Youth: Regenerating Facial Oil is the solution to all of your winter skin problems. Tightness and fry, flaky skin will be left glowing when you incorporate this must-have into your evening routine. The combination of camellia and rosehip oil absorbs into your skin to nourish it from the inside out.

Use this oil at the end of your evening skincare routine, after applying Luna Vitality: Restoring Moisture Cream and you’ll wake up with glowing, youthful skin every morning.

Shea Butter

Ever experienced cracked lips? Of course, you have. Because our lips don’t have oil glands, they’re usually the first to dry up when exposed to cold, dry conditions. Luckily there’s not a lot that’s better for your lips than shea butter! Often used in conjunction with cacao butter, this creamy ingredient is deeply hydrating and a rich source of vitamins A, D and E.

Luscious: Conditioning Lip Treatment is the perfect combination of shea butter, cacao butter and other active ingredients such as coconut oil and sweet almond oil that deeply hydrate your lips and lock in moisture all day long. Use this luscious lip treatment on its own for a natural glow or apply it under your favourite lipstick to keep your lips feeling smooth and nourished.

Give this winning combo a try this winter and trust us, your skin will thank you for it.
